Portland police respond to shooting in Southeast Portland that left 1 dead

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police responded Monday evening to reports of a shooting in Southeast Portland's Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood that left one person dead.

A call about the shooting came in shortly after 7:30 p.m. from Division Center, a strip mall at Southeast 122nd and Division. Witnesses told KGW that there was a someone seen lying in the parking lot as police and emergency crews arrived to take charge of the scene.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers arrived to find a man who had been seriously injured. Though paramedics tried to save the man's life, he died at the scene.

PPB's Homicide Unit responded to the scene to investigate.

Portland police identified the victim of the shooting Wednesday as Lorenzo U. Miranda, 50. The medical examiner's office confirmed that his death was a homicide, the result of a gunshot wound. His family has been notified of his death.
