PORTLAND, Ore. — A man has been arrested in Tigard for stabbing his mother multiple times Friday afternoon, according to the Tigard Police Department (TPD).
At 12:54 p.m., police officers responded to a call of a woman who had been stabbed at the Meadow Creek Apartments on Southwest North Dakota Street. When officers arrived, they learned the 48-year-old had gone to her neighbor's door saying that "she had just been stabbed by her son," TPD said.
According to TPD, officers quickly got the woman out the apartment and taken to the hospital. Her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
While officers were on the scene, her 28-year-old son called 911 from a nearby business to "turn himself in." Officers believe the stabbing occurred in the woman's apartment and her son walked to the business afterwards.
The 28-year-old will be booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, TPD said.
The identities of the woman and son have not yet been released nor the motive for this incident.
Tigard Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed this incident who has not talked to officers to call the non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111.
