PORTLAND, Ore. — A serial TriMet sex offender has been given a lifetime exclusion from the transit agency, TriMet announced Thursday.
Jared Walter's bail was reduced from $100,000 to $50,000 this week in Multnomah County, according to court documents.
Walter, 32, was arrested for the 18th time in connection with vile acts aboard Portland-area public transportation last month.
The latest alleged incidents involving Walter occurred aboard MAX trains on March 20 and March 25. In both cases, Walter is accused of inappropriately touching women who sat in the seat in front of him.
A grand jury indicted Walter earlier this month on two counts of harassment - Class A, two counts of harassment - Class B, two counts of interfering with public transportation and two counts of sex abuse.
Walter got five years probation in March 2018 for similar crimes, but was arrested again four months later and four more times since then.
The judge gave Walter the maximum sentence allowed by the Oregon statute on these misdemeanor cases and they ran concurrent, according to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.
Walter has been convicted of masturbating on buses and cutting women's hair.
The permanent ban from TriMet is the first in the history of the agency.
