PORTLAND, Ore. — Family members are asking for help to find the suspects responsible for shooting and killing three people, including two Portland high school students, in March. The FBI announced on Thursday that it's now offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspects.
On March 25, 17-year-old Eskender Tamra, 19-year-old Isaac Daudi and their friend, 20-year-old Patrick Johnson, were shot and killed while traveling in a vehicle near the intersection of Foss Avenue and North Foss Court in North Portland. The FBI believes they had left nearby University Park and were targeted by three people who fired numerous gunshots at their vehicle around 12:30 p.m. The victims tried to drive away, but the suspects chased after them and killed them, the FBI said.
No one has been arrested.
Daudi was a senior at Roosevelt High School and Tamra was a junior at Franklin High School, according to school officials.
Tamra's sister spoke Thursday morning during a news conference with the FBI and the Portland Police Bureau. She and her family are devastated and they're desperate for answers.
"Please, do the right thing. Give my family the peace that we deserve because this is like an open wound for us," she said. "We don't have answers. We miss Eskender, we love him. He was a great kid."
She added that she hopes this is a wake-up call for lawmakers to help end gun violence.
"Neighbors around here heard dozens upon dozens of gun shots, and later they found dozens of shell casings in their yards," said Kieran L. Ramsey, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Portland Field Office.
Ramsey said the FBI knows there are people out there who have information vital to the investigation. He urged them to come forward.
"We need them to step forward. We need those who brought terror to this entire neighborhood here, who are part of this continuing cycle of gun violence in this city, and who have ripped apart this family and two others to be brought to justice," Ramsey said.
He added that Tamra's family laid him to rest on Easter. He called the gun violence "unacceptable."
Anyone with information about the triple homicide is asked to contact the FBI Portland Field Office at 503-224-4181, or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate. People can also submit tips on the FBI's website.
