PORTLAND, Ore. — A local musician is out thousands of dollars after someone broke into his North Portland studio and got away with some very expensive equipment, including a vintage Gibson guitar worth around $5,000.
The one thing that Collin Hegna loves is music, and music is his livelihood. In late February, the musician and music producer's studio, Revolver, was broken into. Hegna said someone broke open a door with a nearby fire extinguisher hanging on the wall. Once inside, they tagged parts of the studio with graffiti and stole some of Hegna’s most priced possessions — seven of his rare and vintage guitars.
“I came into the studio and saw there was a lot of stuff that was moved around and that’s when I noticed several of my guitars were taken off the wall,” Hegna said.
It wasn’t just guitars stolen. Hegna said they also got away with two microphones and the computer that held many of his projects.
"It's extremely frustrating," he said. "These things that were taken are very valuable to me, they are also valuable in general."
Many of the items taken are ones that Hegna said aren't available in stores anymore. In all, he estimates all of the equipment that was stolen was close to $12,000.
Now, Hegna is wondering if he’ll ever get a chance to see his guitars back in his hands again. Unfortunately, he added there’s no suspect description from the robbery to give to police.
