Woman suffers life-threatening injuries after clinging to car, getting run over in Southeast Portland

An initial investigation suggests the woman was clinging to the outside of a moving vehicle, fell off and was run over, police said. The driver fled the scene.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman is critically injured after clinging to car and getting run over in Southeast Portland early Thursday morning. 

Around 1:26 a.m., officers responded to reports of a woman injured near the intersection of Southeast Stark Street and Southeast 99th Street. When arrived, they found the woman in the street. She was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Portland police said an initial investigation suggests that the woman was clinging to the outside of a moving vehicles, fell off and was run over. The driver did not remain at the scene and is now being sought by investigators. 

During the investigation, the westbound lanes of Southeast Stark Street were closed between Southeast 99th Avenue and Southeast 100th Avenue.
