PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Police Bureau's tactical team responded to the city's Parkrose neighborhood Monday evening after a report of "shots fired" and an apparent assault, according to an initial statement from the agency.
Officers responded shortly before 7 p.m. to Northeast 111th Avenue near Sandy Boulevard for a report of a disturbance with a shot fired. They arrived to find an assault victim with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police learned that a person of interest in the assault could be in a nearby home. PPB said that it called in the Special Emergency Reaction Team, the agency's tactical team, to assist patrol officers at the scene.
Northeast 111th Avenue was closed between Northeast Wygant Street and Sandy Boulevard for the response.
This is a developing story and may be updated with more details as they emerge.
