PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested a man who they said was dealing heroin at one of Portland's most popular food carts.
The owner of Satay Indonesia at Southwest 9th Avenue and Alder Street said the man police arrested, Chris Bartz, was not one of his employees.
Derek Kindshuh said Bartz was homeless but he gave him a few dollars to occasionally wash dishes and take out the trash. Kindshuh said the alleged drug deals had nothing to do with his cart.
"I don't want anyone dealing heroin in the parking lot or downtown Portland area," said Kindshuh. "I want to see the place cleaned up, but it has no association with my business and that's the thing that I want to clarify."
Police claimed Bartz offered drugs to the food cart's customers.
Police said Bartz had heroin and methamphetamine on him when he was arrested. An informant set up a drug deal that ended with Bartz being caught, according to police.
