Detectives in Salem look for information about suspicious death of 28-year-old Carla Fernanda Vasquez

Detectives from the Salem police department are investigating the death of a 28-year-old woman, who was found lying in the roadway.

SALEM, Ore. — The Salem Police Department (SPD) is currently investigating the death of a woman who was found lying in the road at approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday, May 23. SPD is treating the case as a suspicious death investigation.

The woman, identified as Carla Fernanda Vasquez, was found in the area of Rural Avenue Southeast and Raynor Street Southeast.

Surveillance footage near where Vasquez was found shows someone driving the area shortly before police received the call regarding Vasquez. The vehicle of interest was a light-colored van or mid-sized SUV, traveling east on Rural Avenue, passing by Church Street.

Police are asking the driver of the van or the motorist to come forward as potential witnesses in the suspicious death investigation.
