PORTLAND, Ore. -- Police said they arrested a wanted gang member for shooting and wounding a man during an argument at a child's birthday party at Portland's Laurelhurst Park.
On August 16, officers were called just before 5 p.m. to reports of gunfire at the park. They found evidence of gunfire, but no suspects or victims at the scene
Witnesses told police two men had been arguing during the birthday party in the southeast section of the park when one shot the other. Both men fled the scene.
On Tuesday, police arrested the suspect, 23-year-old Damajio Louis, during a traffic stop. Louis faces charges including attempted murder, assault and felon in possession of a firearm.
The victim, 20-year-old Ejante Sharrif Paden, arrived at a Portland hospital about 20 minutes later with a gunshot wound police said was not life-threatening. Paden was not cooperative with the investigation, police said.
