GRESHAM, Oregon — A pedestrian was hit and killed while walking in a crosswalk Saturday afternoon at Northeast Halsey Street and 192nd Avenue in Gresham.
Police identified the victim as Zachary O'Leary, 21, of Gresham. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise money for O'Leary's funeral.
David Haugen, 38, was arrested and lodged at the Multnomah County jail. He faces charges of second degree manslaughter, DUII, failure to perform the duties of a driver, and reckless driving.
When they arrived at the scene, officers were told that the suspect vehicle had fled the scene. Haugen returned the scene about 35 minutes after police arrived.
