PORTLAND, Ore. — A local pastor was stabbed in the parking lot of The Well Community Church on Sunday afternoon in Northeast Portland.
Police reported a person was stabbed at the church, located at 1734 Northeast 1st Avenue, shortly after 2 p.m. The church posted a comment on its Facebook page confirming that the man stabbed was operations pastor Kevin Nichols.
According to the message, Nichols did not know his attacker. His doctors have said he'll make a full recovery, according to the church's Facebook post.
Police said he was stabbed while volunteering at a church program.
Officers and a police K-9 searched the neighborhood but the suspect hasn't been found. The suspect had a knife and was described as white or Hispanic, 20 to 30 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-6, dressed in all black.
