A man was found dead from a gunshot wound outside La Leyenda on Portland Road Northeast early Monday morning.

SALEM, Ore. — A second suspect in connection with the death of a man who had been found in the parking lot of a nightclub on New Year's Day morning turned himself in.

Julio Cesar Sanchez-Sanchez, 36, turned himself in to Roseburg Police Department officers Wednesday, according to the Salem Police Department. The Salem resident is charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, and is currently at the Douglas County Jail pending transfer to the Marion County Jail.

Salem and Woodburn officers also arrested another suspect, Guadalupe Ortiz Cervantes of Woodburn, on Tuesday evening. The 34-year-old suspect was lodged at the Marion County Jail on charges of hindering prosecution, according to a press release. Cervantes will be arraigned at the Marion County Criminal Court Annex on Wednesday afternoon.

Salem police were called to La Leyenda on Portland Road Northeast around 3:15 a.m. on a report of a gunshot victim outside the bar.

Officers found the man deceased in the parking lot, which is used by customers of several businesses. He has been identified as 29-year-old Ricardo Lopez-Cruz.

There is no word yet on what led up to the shooting. A homicide investigation is underway.

"Our Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and are working all available leads in this very active investigation, so there is little else to share at this time," Salem Police Department told KGW.
