Off-duty Portland police officer arrested for DUII

An off-duty Portland police officer was arrested early Saturday morning in Beaverton on suspicion of drunkenly driving a city-owned vehicle.

BEAVERTON, Ore. – An off-duty Portland police officer was arrested early Saturday morning in Beaverton on suspicion of drunkenly driving a city-owned car.

Timothy Robinson faces a DUII charge. He was booked into the Washington County Jail. His arraignment is schedule for Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Municipal Courthouse in Beaverton.

Tuesday in court, his attorney entered a not-guilty plea.

In court, five members of the group Washco Solidary watched his arraignment. They say they attended to “hold the leadership accountable” and want to make sure he doesn’t get any special treatment.

“We want to make sure that what happens to citizens with DUIs is the same thing that happens to officers with DUIs,” said Cecile Evans.

“We are looking at a situation where if there aren’t the faces of citizens to hold this accountable, then it’s very possible it could slip right under the radar and that this individual won’t be tried the same as everyone else,” said Ashley Bardales.

Robinson is an 18-year veteran with Portland police and is a sergeant with the Drugs and Vice Division. The city owned-vehicle he was driving was assigned to him as part of his duties with the Drugs and Vice Division.

He has been assigned to the telephone reporting unit, which police say is standard procedure, pending the resolution of the case.

Once the investigation is complete, the incident will be the subject of an internal review.
