New charges filed against former Gresham homeless outreach staffer

The six additional charges include identity theft, official misconduct and third-degree theft. Dahlgren had been arrested in October.

GRESHAM, Ore. — A former homeless services specialist for the city of Gresham has had new charges filed against him, including multiple counts of identity theft.

Kevin Vaughn Dahlgren, accused of abusing his official position, had been arrested in October. As of Tuesday, the Multnomah County Circuit Court has filed six additional charges against the 53 year old, including two counts of identity theft, two counts of first-degree official misconduct and two thefts in the third degree. The latter, according to court documents, included property of Gresham valued at less than $100.

Both misconduct charges pointed to "unauthorized exercise of his official duties."

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office had opened a criminal investigation into Dahlgren after getting a referral from Gresham police on March 23, according to the agency. Dahlgren resigned his position with the city of Gresham a week later, on March 30.

According to the DA's office, a grand jury approved an indictment of Dahlgren on Oct. 26 after hearing sworn testimony from eight witnesses. He's charged with 19 counts in total, including seven counts of first-degree theft, five counts of identity theft, two counts of aggravated identity theft and five counts of first-degree official misconduct.
