KEIZER, Ore. — Police in Keizer arrested five freshman football players from McNary High School on Thursday, following a two-week investigation into allegations of harassment and assault.
According to the Keizer Police Department, the crimes took place between August and October in the boys' locker room at McNary High School. All of the four victims were fellow freshman football players.
The victims were physically harassed, and one was also a victim of fourth-degree assault.
"When the Salem-Keizer School District learned of the gross student-athlete misconduct, they cancelled freshman football activities for safety reasons and then collaborated with the Keizer Police Department to investigate the allegations," the agency said in a brief statement.
All five of the arrested freshmen are residents of Keizer. Four are 14-year-olds, while the fifth is 15. The students were processed at the Keizer Police Department and then taken to the Marion County Juvenile Department, where they were released to intake staff.
This is a developing story and may be updated with more details as they emerge.
