McMinnville mom arrested for infant daughter's death

Clely Flores-Ramirez was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on charges of manslaughter and criminal mistreatment.

MCMINNVILLE – A McMinnville mother was arrested Thursday on charges related to the death of her 7-week-old daughter.

Clely Flores-Ramirez, 31, was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on charges of manslaughter and criminal mistreatment.

On Nov. 21, police responded to a home at 1125 NE Irvine St. on a report that the infant wasn’t breathing.

First responders worked to resuscitate the girl and took her to Willamette Valley Medical Center. She was then flown to OHSU’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital for treatment of a traumatic brain injury. She died there on Nov. 23.

Following the girl’s death, police said her injuries were not consistent with the explanation provided by her caregivers.

"It is worth noting that this tragic death was not the result of an incidental or accidental event such as bumping into a wall or rolling off a bed," read a statement released by McMinnville police in December. "The infant's injuries were caused by a great deal of force exerted on the child, causing a traumatic brain injury leading to her death."
