WELCHES, Ore. — A 25-year-old man was shot in the head during a disturbance in Welches on Friday night and a 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the crime.
The shooting happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the area of 25500 East Welches Road. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office did not say what caused the disturbance.
The victim, Eddie Osborne, 25, was taken to a hospital. Sunday night, Osborne's father told KGW his son remains in "critical condition." His family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover medical expenses.
Police have charged the suspect, 40-year-old Michael John Vavra, of Welches, with attempted murder, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
Vavra is being held on $260,000 bail.
After asking for the public's help with finding Vavra, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office located Vavra and took him into custody Saturday afternoon.
