PORTLAND, Ore. — A 22-year-old man was shot early Thursday morning during an attempted carjacking at a gas station in Clackamas County.

Shortly before 1 a.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) responded to reports of a shooting at a gas station located at the intersection of Southeast Sunnyside Road and 122nd Avenue. When deputies arrived, they found the man with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital nearby. His injuries are reported to be non-life threatening, CCSO said.

The victim reported that a man and two other people attempted to forcibly steal his car. When he resisted, one of them shot him. Gas station employees who heard the gunshots called 911 and helped the victim.

All three suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, before deputies arrived. Currently, it does not appear that the victim and suspects knew each other, CCSO said.
