THE DALLES, Ore. — The same day he pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder, the Wasco County District Attorney said 26-year-old Logan Cantwell was sentenced to 120 months in prison.

Friday, Cantwell pleaded guilty to charges related to two different criminal cases, including the Nov. 13, 2021, chase where he shot at a Wasco County sergeant.

Cantwell led officers on a chase after he fled from a traffic stop near Shaniko. After one his tires blew out, he fired multiple shots at Sergeant Matt Tuia, who avoided injury.

Cantwell fled the scene and hitchhiked to The Dalles. After a weeklong search, officers arrested him in Skamania County.

Of the 120-month sentence, 90 months must be served day-for-day.
