"There's just a lot of crap that happens around here," said Diana who lives on the street in the area. "This area is really weird. It used to be that you couldn't find a parking spot around here and now it's like a ghost town."

Diana told KGW that she has noticed this specific area has gotten more dangerous throughout the years, adding that her friends saw the shooting firsthand.

"They didn't cover the guy up for a while," said Diana. "So, some people were able to identify him on their own."

Other bystanders, who didn't want to go on camera, told KGW they heard at least seven gunshots Sunday morning.

"Insane (and) crazy," said David Matthews who described what he believes led up to the shooting.

"I came out of my room and heard a lady yelling and she ran across the parking lot saying, 'Call the police.' And then a man came out the bottom stairs room, hotel room, and he was carrying a golf club," said Matthews. "And he was walking after her. She ran around the office corner out of my view and then he went around the corner too. So, they were both out of my view. Then I went back to my room. Then 10 minutes later the parking lot was filled with police."

No immediate arrests were made. Portland police said the suspect or suspects had left the scene before officers arrived. Monday's news release did not include any further details about the circumstances of the shooting.

During the investigation, Northeast Holladay Street was closed between Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast 7th Avenue. TriMet service on Northeast Holladay Street was also impacted.
