OREGON CITY, Ore. — Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man on Monday after he allegedly kidnapped an 11-year-old girl from an apartment complex in the area between Milwaukie and Gladstone. Felipe Hernandez Martinez, 47, was booked in Clackamas County jail on charges of second-degree kidnapping and harassment.
Deputies were dispatched to the apartment complex on Southeast Roethe Road just before 2 a.m. Monday when a woman called 911 to report that a man had grabbed her daughter and driven away in a truck, according to a news release from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).
The girl, who was already back at the apartment complex, told the deputies that she had been walking around the building when the man physically picked her up, put her in the truck and drove away. She said the man stopped near some houses a short distance away, and she was able to escape and run back home.
Deputies found a red 1998 Ford F-150 in the area as well as a suspect matching the description provided by the girl. Hernandez Martinez was arrested "following interviews and further investigation," CCSO said. There is no indication that the girl and Hernandez Martinez knew each other, CCSO added.
CCSO released a mugshot of Hernandez Martinez "for the identification of additional criminal activity" under Oregon House Bill 3273, but did not say if there are any other specific crimes or victims suspected to be associated with him. His bail was set at $250,000 and he is still in jail as of Wednesday.
Anyone with information about the case or "other concerning behavior" by Hernandez Martinez is asked to contact CCSO's tip line at 503-723-4949 or online and reference case number 24-024804.
