Roads near Southeast Division and 92nd in Portland reopen after person taken into custody

Police said Tuesday morning's police activity was connected to a shooting at the same location Monday night.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Traffic was impacted for about half an hour Tuesday morning in the area of Southeast Division Street and 92nd Avenue while officers took a person into custody.

A Portland Police Bureau (PPB) spokesperson told KGW at 8:31 a.m. that officers had responded to the area and were "trying to take an individual into custody" but he was not being cooperative, and that "additional resources" were heading to the scene.

About half an hour later, at 8:57 a.m., a PPB spokesperson reported that the subject had been taken into custody "peacefully."

An officer at the scene told a KGW reporter that Tuesday morning's police activity was connected to a shooting at the same location Monday night.

At 8:37 a.m., PPB said "a number of streets" were closed in the area. Shortly after 9 a.m., an officer on scene told KGW that streets were starting to reopen.

TriMet reported at 8:37 a.m. that the MAX Green Line was not serving the Southeast Division Street station in both directions because of the police activity. Around 9:15 a.m., TriMet said the MAX Green Line had resumed service.
