PORTLAND, Ore. — A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 84 Monday night, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said.
Around 9:31 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a call from the teenage driver, who reported he was changing a tire on the shoulder of I-84 when he was hit. The driver of the passing vehicle took off, according to the sheriff's office. The dispatcher was able to locate the teen on the westbound shoulder near the Corbett Exit.
The teenager described his injuries as "fairly serious" and also reported having a head injury, the sheriff's office said. He was taken to the hospital.
Oregon State Police said the 16 year old was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, adding that they don't have any description of the semi-truck that was involved in the hit and run.
This is a developing story, and it may be updated when more information becomes available.
