PORTLAND, Ore. — A Texas teen has been identified after being killed in a shooting in Portland's Lents Neighborhood Saturday, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).
On Saturday, at around 12:57 a.m., Portland police responded to reports of someone shot near Southeast Aspen Summit Drive. When officers arrived, they found a man identified as 19-year-old Niyjiel Troishon Brown of Texas dead in the common area outside of some apartments, Portland police said.
PPB said Brown's family has been notified of his death and so far, no suspect details have been released to the public.
The Portland Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the shooting. No public streets were closed, but some areas of the apartment complex parking lot are inaccessible due to the investigation, PPB said.
The medical examiner found his cause of death to be homicide by gunshot wound. This remains an active investigation and detectives continue to seek additional information.
