Gresham police arrest suspect in stabbing attack

A 21-year-old man is accused of stabbing another man this past Wednesday near Northeast Hogan Drive and Northeast 19th Street.

GRESHAM, Ore — Police have arrested a suspect accused of stabbing a man this past Wednesday.

The victim was stabbed at Northeast Hogan Drive and Northeast 19th Street around 3:45 p.m. Officers provided first aid to the man before first responders arrived. He was transported to a hospital with critical injuries. 

Gresham police along with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office searched the area with a tracking dog but could not find the suspect. 

Detectives with the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team identified him as 21-year-old Luke Gentry. He was arrested on Saturday afternoon in a residential neighborhood in Troutdale with the help of the East Metro SWAT team.

Gentry is charged with attempted murder, assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Police have not said what led to the stabbing.
