GRESHAM, Ore. — Police arrested a man who crashed his car into a home while impaired and distracted while driving, according to Gresham police.
On Sept. 21 shortly after midnight, officers responded to reports of a Toyota Prius that crashed into the bedroom of an apartment on Southwest 4th Street near Birdsdale Drive. Seven people were inside the apartment and one was in the bedroom at the time of the crash.
Police said the driver, identified as Billy Holt, showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking. Holt also told officers that he was eating chicken and watching ESPN on his cell phone just before crashing.
Police said Holt was booked in jail and arrested for DUII, reckless driving and other crimes. He also refused to provide officers a breath sample, so officers obtained a warrant to get a blood sample from him. That has been submitted to the lab for testing to determine his level of impairment.
Gresham police remind the public about the dangers of being impaired and distracted while driving and are grateful that no one was killed or seriously injured in this case.
