GLADSTONE, Ore. — A Gladstone man is facing a murder charge after police officers found his mother dead inside their home on Tuesday.
Around 6:40 p.m., Gladstone police responded to a home on Cason Road to conduct a welfare check on one of the residents, Rosa Leyva. The police officers spoke to Leyva's son, Ronald Kirk, who also lives at the home. After interacting with Kirk, they were "compelled" to enter the home and check on Leyva's condition, Gladstone police said, though it didn't provide any other details. The police officers found Leyva dead inside the home.
Gladstone police arrested Kirk for murder and unlawful use of a weapon. He was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail.
The Gladstone Police Department, the Clackamas County Interagency Major Crimes team, and the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office are investigating.
There is no threat or danger to the public, Gladstone police said.
