PORTLAND, Ore. — Former Beaverton Mayor Dennis "Denny" Doyle, who pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in 2022, was arrested again this week for violating the terms of his supervised release. Multnomah County jail records indicate he was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and booked on Monday afternoon.
Doyle, 75, was sentenced in early 2023 to six months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Federal court records indicate that he was arrested Monday on a warrant for violating the terms of his supervised release, although the nature of the violation wasn't immediately clear.
Doyle served as a Beaverton city councilor for 14 years and was then elected mayor in 2008, serving three terms but losing to Mayor Lacey Beaty in 2020. He was charged in March 2022 with knowingly possessing digital material containing child pornography between November 2014 and December 2015.
The case began in early 2022 when a local business found a USB thumb drive containing what appeared to be child pornography, along with personal photos of Doyle. The business handed the drive over to police, who referred the case to the FBI.
When Doyle was contacted by the Child Exploitation Task Force from the Portland FBI office, he admitted that the drive was his and that he had downloaded the images, according to a 2022 news release from the U.S. Attorney's office for the District of Oregon. No further evidence of child pornography was found on any of his other devices.
