KELSO, Wash. — A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested this week after a father and his teenage son were stabbed last weekend in a McDonald's parking lot in Kelso, police reported Thursday.
The stabbing happened around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27. The father, 43, and son, 15, both from Longview, saw the 19-year-old, identified by the Kelso Police Department as Kamrin Kerr of Longview, acting aggressively toward a woman in the parking lot.
The father approached Kerr and tried to de-escalate the situation, but Kerr and others who were with him, including a 16-year-old boy armed with a knife, surrounded the father and son and started a fight, during which the father and son were stabbed. Police said the father and son suffered life-threatening injuries but did not release their current medical status.
"There was a female screaming a whole lot, just saying, 'Stop, stop, stop!'" said a witness named Cory, who asked to only be identified by his first name.
Cory said the father and son showed up shortly after he heard the woman's screams.
"It sounded like they tried to break it up," said Cory. "I heard was one dude talking a lot of crap to another guy; they started screaming at each other ... then all the sirens and all the cops came and ambulances."
Kerr was arrested Wednesday, and the 16-year-old suspect was arrested Thursday afternoon. Police said both are being held on charges of first-degree assault.
The names of the victims and the name of the 16-year-old suspect were not released.
Police said they're releasing limited information because this is an active investigation.
