PORTLAND, Ore. — A 73-year-old man is dead after a stabbing early Monday morning in Southeast Portland, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reported.
Police identified the victim Tuesday as Kenny L. Housman of Portland. The medical examiner reported that Housman died of homicide by stab wound.
On Monday, police said a suspect was detained. In Tuesday's news release, PPB said that person was released from police custody, has not been charged with a crime and is cooperating with detectives.
The stabbing happened Monday at 12:30 a.m. in the intersection of Southeast 136th Avenue and Clinton Street. When officers arrived, they found Housman, who'd been stabbed. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
No arrests have been made. Police have not released any other details about the shooting.
Southeast Clinton Street between 136th Avenue and 137th Avenue was closed during the investigation. Southeast 136th Avenue between Division Street and just south of Clinton Street was also closed.
