ASTORIA, Ore. — A man faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, after stabbing another man at an Astoria homeless outreach center.
On Saturday, officers responded to a call about a stabbing at Helping Hands at 286 West Marine Drive. The suspect, 58-year-old Stephen G. Foxon, was located by officers at the Riverwalk and taken into custody at 2:39 a.m.
According to Astoria Police, Foxon had been living at Helping Hands until he had been caught trespassing by officers on Friday. The next morning, around 2:15 a.m., several residents at the shelter woke to sounds of a struggle and saw Foxon stabbing a person.
The residents called for help and began first aid; the man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.
Foxon has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and unlawful use of a weapon, Astoria Police said.
