GRESHAM, Ore. — Authorities have arrested the ex-husband of a Gresham woman who was stabbed and killed in 2016.
Matthew Hester, 38 was arrested Wednesday at his Kennewick, Washington, home, according to Gresham police. He was logged into the Benton County Jail and charged with criminal conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation of murder and hindering prosecution in the murder. He is currently awaiting extradition to Oregon.
Background on the stabbing
On June 10, 2016, officers responded to a homicide at 193 SW Eastman Parkway where Annastasia Hester had been stabbed multiple times. Following the stabbing, Annastasia was taken to the hospital where she later died.
Kevin Brooks remembers Annastasia as being sweet and caring.
"She wouldn't harm a fly and to know she was brutally taken away from us in the manner that's been described," Brooks said. "We miss her every day."
Angela Rose McCraw-Hester, Matthew Hester’s current wife, was arrested at her home in Pocatello, Idaho for the aggravated murder of Annastasia Hester on Oct. 4, 2017. McCraw-Hester is awaiting trial at the Multnomah County Jail.
