SPOKANE, Wash. — New court documents were released on Monday related to a shooting near Second and Division in downtown Spokane last Friday.
According to the documents, officers with the Spokane Police Department responded to a shooting near Division and Short.
When officers arrived at the scene, the court documents say 36-year-old Hoyt Webb was in the area documenting homelessness activities, live streaming his video on a YouTube page.
The documents say police found the live feed video from the shooting, noting that Webb was yelling obscenities to someone in the 7-11 parking lot as they were walking away.
The video also showed that Webb was wearing a pistol in a shoulder holster, according to the court documents.
Following that altercation at the 7-11, video showed Webb filming people across Division when another man started running at Webb, and police say they heard "the sound of a pistol slide being racked."
Court documents say people started yelling at Webb, and Webb yelled "I feel threatened," saying that someone else had a gun.
Court documents also say Webb started yelling at someone to drop a rock.
Webb then shot his gun two more times before retreating. Webb struck 47-year-old Thomas Hatch, who police said had an iced coffee in his hand.
When speaking to police, Webb told officers he felt like his life was in danger, regretting being down there and arguing and yelling at people.
Webb was booked into the Spokane County Jail for first-degree assault. Hatch was shot and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Webb appeared in court Monday afternoon and will be arraigned on June 25 at 9 a.m. Webb has a $75,000 bond.
