23-year-old arrested for deadly shooting in Portland's Wilkes neighborhood

A man has been charged with murder for the the death of 34-year-old Ozell Shepherd, who was found shot dead in Portland's Wilkes neighborhood.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police arrested a man Tuesday for shooting and killing another man in the Wilkes neighborhood in May.

Alex M. Brown-Golden, 23, is charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon in relation to a firearm for the death of 34-year-old Ozell Shepherd. Portland police said Shepherd's family has been notified of the arrest. 

Around 5 a.m. on May 4, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 15700 block of Northeast Beech Street. When officers arrived, they found Shepherd dead in the street. 

Portland police said the suspect had left the scene before officers arrived. 

Brown-Golden is now in custody at the Multnomah County Detention Center.
