PORTLAND, Ore. — A bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle early Monday morning in Northeast Portland. The driver of the vehicle took off, according to Portland police.
Officers responded to reports of a bicyclist hit by a vehicle around 2:37 a.m. near the intersection of Northeast 128th Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street. Portland police have not provided any information about the vehicle that was involved in the deadly hit-and-run crash.
The cyclist has been identified as Sergio D. Hunt. He was 38 years old.
Portland police have not released any other details about what led up to the hit-and-run crash.
The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team responded to the scene to investigation. During the investigation, Northeast Glisan Street will be closed between 125th Avenue and 133rd Avenue.
The hit-and-run crash could also impact students trying to go to school at Menlo Park Elementary School, which is nearby. The school can still be accessed through East Burnside and Southeast 12th Avenue, Portland police said. A police officer also told KGW that there should be minimal impact to no impact for buses in the area.
