PORTLAND, Ore. — Several arrests were made at two illegal massage parlors in Newberg after an investigation found that both were illegitimate and offered "sexual acts" in exchange for money.

After receiving tips from community members in June, undercover detectives visited Amber Massage and Lavender Foot Spa, both located on Portland Road. At each place detectives were propositioned for "sexual acts multiple times on multiple days," the Newberg-Dundee Police Department said.

According to the news release, one of the locations advertised "Asian Massage" on its storefront. A search of both places found "fraudulent massage licenses displayed inside the business" — neither business was found to be registered with the state of Oregon as a legitimate massage clinic.

During the search, Newberg-Dundee police arrested three people on charges related to promoting prostitution. The agency said additional arrests could be made as the investigation is ongoing.

At least one of the workers for Lavender Foot Spa was transported to the hospital for medical care. Newberg-Dundee police said that human-trafficking is often involved in these types of "illicit" businesses. Victim advocates accompanied law enforcement during the search to connect any potential victims with medical treatment, housing or other emergency services needed.
