18-year-old man shot, killed in NE Portland

The victim was identified by police as Jackson Panyanouvong. The medical examiner's office said his manner of death was homicide.

PORTLAND, Ore. — An 18-year-old man was shot and killed in Northeast Portland on Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the victim Sunday as Jackson Panyanouvong. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office said he died of a gunshot wound and categorized the manner of death as homicide.

Officers responded Saturday at 12:24 p.m. to the area of Northeast Wygant Street and Northeast 109th Avenue on a report that shots had been fired. Officers found Panyanouvong at the scene. He had a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Police said they're not releasing suspect information, but said "given the circumstances of the incident," there is no ongoing threat to the community.
