1 person dead after reported shooting at Horning's Hideout in North Plains

A person was taken into custody, police said. No other information was provided.

NORTH PLAINS, Ore. — One person was found dead after a reported shooting Tuesday morning in North Plains. Police took a person into custody, the Washington County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) said.

Deputies responded at 9:35 a.m. to Horning's Hideout on Northwest Brunswick Canyon Road in North Plains. They found one person dead.

Horning's Hideout is an outdoor recreation center that hosts weddings and concerts and also offers fishing, disc golf, picnicking and camping. When KGW reached out for information, they said they had no events planned on Tuesday.

The sheriff's office said they're not releasing any information about the person who died or the person in custody at this time. They also didn't report the circumstances that led to the person's death.

WCSO Violent Crimes Unit detectives responded to investigate.
