PORTLAND, Oregon — Twelve speakers and performers will share their stories, innovative ideas and ways to catalyze change at TEDxPortland this Saturday.
The one-day event will be held at Keller Auditorium in downtown Portland, and tickets are available online.

This year's event is inspired by the "unlimited potential and endless possibilities revealed through the alchemy of ideas," according to the event's website. "Together ,we will challenge each other to think differently and take action because Portland is what we make it."
Speakers who will take the stage include Ian Williams, the founder and owner of Deadstock Coffee in the Old Town neighborhood. Williams designed the coffee shop to bring people together through a love of coffee and sneakers. He will be focusing his talk on the theme of community.
'CALL TO ACTION FOR CREATIVES': Designer behind The Lion King show to speak at TEDxPortland
Michael Curry, one of the most sought-after creative directors in the past 30 years, will also deliver a talk. Curry is an award-winning visual concept designer who is based in Scappoose. Some of his iconic work includes designing the puppets and character effects in The Lion King, as well as designing Olympic ceremonies, Las Vegas shows and Super Bowl halftime shows. His talk will be a call to action for creatives.
Other speakers include Gabriel Rucker, a James Beard award-winning executive chef and co-owner of Le Pigeon and Canard; Amber Huffman, the principal engineer of Google Cloud; Dr. Scott Bolton, an award-winning NASA physicist; Kali Thorne Ladd, the co-founder of KairosPDX and CEO of the Children's Institute; and Lou Featherstone, a middle-aged influencer and advocate for self-love and empowerment.
There will be live performances by Portland-based group Modest Mouse, Y La Bamba, Kota The Friend and Open Space.
