BEAVERTON, Ore. — When Julia Lin's junior year at Sunset High School changed because of COVID-19, she and some of her classmates became concerned that not everyone at school would have enough eat. They decided to act.
Lin reached out to her neighbors on Nextdoor. She got hundreds of donations of non-perishable items. She collected all the items and cleaned them with disinfectant wipes. She also did some fundraising. Lin used the money she raised to buy groceries to distribute.
“During this time I feel lucky to have what I need and to be healthy. I want to give back to the less fortunate” said Lin.
She and her classmates say they will continue to do what they can to make sure their classmates at Sunset High have what they need.
