Free First Thursday returns to Portland Art Museum

The museum will be free the first Thursday of every month, starting next year.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Free First Thursday will return to the Portland Art Museum, starting Jan. 4, 2024.

Admission to the Portland Art Museum will be free on the first Thursday of every month from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., as well as the programs at the PAM CUT Tomorrow Theater in Southeast Portland.

The museum also announced new hours, starting next year—Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

According to the museum, the return is due to funding by the Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All Program. The Portland Art Museum was one of the 64 organizations across 36 states and Puerto Rico selected to receive funding from Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All initiative. The initiative hopes to restore pre-pandemic attendance, according to a press release.

Portland Art Museum Director Brian Ferriso expressed gratitude for the partnership, adding that the next year's new hours are due to visitors asking the museum for extended weekend and evening hours.

“The Museum is dedicated to doing our part to revive Portland’s downtown, and we look forward to welcoming everyone,” he concluded.
