PORTLAND, Ore. — The Oregon State University (OSU) Board of Trustees approved a tuition increase across the board for undergraduate and graduate students for the 2024-2025 school year on Friday.
For resident undergraduates and online students, tuition will increase 4.65% — between $495 and $540 depending on the year a student enrolled. For new students and out-of-state undergraduates, tuition will increase 5.15%.
New students entering the university for the first time this fall can expect to pay around $12,045 in tuition.
“In the face of rising costs, we are responding to sustain the high-quality services and support that we provide at Oregon State while mitigating the impact on tuition as much as possible,” said OSU President Jayathi Murthy.
To go with the tuition hike, OSU said it will also increase student financial aid that's funded through the university by $9.5 million to bring the total offering to more than $125 million.
Student quarterly fees will also increase that help pay for some of the universities capitol funding projects, like student centers and recreational facilities. Fees will also increase for counseling and health services.
OSU joins Oregon other large universities, University of Oregon and Portland State University, in increasing tuition for next year. Portland State approved a 4.8% tuition increase on Friday and UO's trustees voted on a 3% rise in tuition for new undergraduates in March, reported OPB.
“We understand the impact that inflation is having on students and families, and in response we are again significantly increasing financial aid, especially for families with the greatest need," said Murthy.
