PORTLAND, Ore. — We are a little more than a year away from electing the next president, but candidates have been barreling toward Election Day 2020 at full speed for months.
And donors have been providing the fuel for their campaigns.
Americans have donated $389 million to candidates for the 2020 presidential election as of June 30, according to the Federal Election Commission. That total includes $120.7 million to Republican candidates and $268 million to Democrats.
President Donald Trump received 99 percent of the Republican donations, with $119.8 million. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont led the Democratic candidates with $46.2 million, with Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts raising $35.5 million and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg receiving $32 million.
Donors in Oregon have given $1.4 million to presidential campaigns, with $862,862 going to Democrats (62 percent) and $535,937 (38 percent) going to Trump.

Among Oregon donations to Democrats, Sanders raised the most with $224,520. Warren raised $191,906, and Buttigieg raised $103,777.
