How Oregon's minimum wage increases on July 1 impact each county

There are three minimum wage levels in the state. Here's a breakdown of the different rates and the Oregon counties that fall under them.

PORTLAND, Oregon — Oregon's minimum wage will go up 70 cents on July 1, but the new hourly amount workers will make depends on which county they work in.

The state has three levels of minimum wage rates. Starting on Saturday, the rates for people in those tiers will increase to the following: $15.45 per hour under the Portland metro rate, $14.20 per hour for the standard rate, and $13.20 per hour for the non-urban rate, which is made up of rural areas. Those numbers are increases from $14.75, $13.50 and $12.50 per hour rates, respectively.

Since 2016, minimum wages in Oregon have been adjusted for inflation each year on July 1.

$15.45 per hour (Portland metro rate)

The Portland metro area rate applies to areas within the urban growth boundary, which include parts of the counties below:

  • Clackamas
  • Multnomah
  • Washington

$14.20 per hour (Standard rate)

The standard rate impacts the counties below, as well as parts of Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties that are outside the urban growth boundary:

  • Benton
  • Clatsop
  • Columbia
  • Deschutes
  • Hood River
  • Jackson
  • Josephine
  • Lane
  • Lincoln
  • Linn
  • Marion
  • Polk
  • Tillamook
  • Wasco
  • Yamhill

$13.20 per hour (Non-urban rate)
