BELLEVUE, Wash. — Washington state's 10 most expensive ZIP codes all are congregated in the same county, a new report finds.
King County is home to each of the most expensive areas in the state, data from PropertyShark shows. The company said it used residential transaction data from January-September 2024 and required a minimum of five transactions to be considered in that time frame.
The top ZIP code in Washington is also among the top 15 most expensive in the country. 98039 in Medina tops PropertyShark's list in Washington for what it said is the eighth consecutive year. The median sale price for a home in Medina is $4 million, one of just 15 ZIP codes to hit that threshold.
Only Medina and Mercer Island's 98040 cracked the 100 most expensive ZIP codes in the U.S., but two others came up just short. Bellevue's 98004 and Sammamish's 98075 were less than $50,000 from being among the 100 most expensive, a PropertyShark representative told KING 5.

PropertyShark also said 78% of these most expensive ZIP codes are concentrated in the San Francisco Bay Area, metro Los Angeles and the New York City metro area.
Washington state and particularly the Puget Sound region remains among the hottest housing markets in the nation. 98043 in Mountlake Terrace had the fastest-selling homes in the U.S. in Q2, according to an analysis by The Business Journals.
In August, The Business Journals also found that the 98039 ZIP code is the most expensive in the U.S. outside of California, and the seventh-most expensive in the nation.
