PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland's trendsetting women's sports showcase the Sports Bra unveiled its first overseas venture this week: a French pop-up.
"The Sports Bra is going to Cannes NEXT WEEK good people!" the business said on Instagram.
The business will take part in France's Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, an annual awards event recognizing professionals in the advertising and communications industry.
The Sports Bra will host a poolside bar pop-up, named the Women's Sports House, at the festival's villa, according to the Instagram post.
"The Women’s Sports House experience will feature speakers from the business and sports industries, special events celebrating women’s sports, and more as part of the internationally acclaimed Cannes Lions Festival," the post said.
Media company Axios and women's sports agency Deep Blue Sports and Entertainment are partners in the pop-up.
"We’ll be taking over the villa’s poolside bar and terrace slinging renditions of The Bra’s signature cocktails along with women’s sports on the screens and sports memorabilia!!"
The Sports Bra's plans were first reported by the Oregonian.
Frustrated with a lack of places for fans to watch women's sports, founder Jenny Nguyen opened The Sports Bra in Northeast Portland in 2022 as a hub for fans of women's sports, with televisions and memorabilia featuring women's athletics exclusively.
Since then, the business has inspired similar venues across the country. In April, it announced plans to franchise its brand in other cities. The expansion is funded with an investment from the 776 Foundation, launched by Reddit co-founder Alex Ohanian, who is married to tennis great Serena Williams.
Nguyen was named grand marshal of the Portland Rose Festival's Starlight Parade and a Portland Business Journal Women of Influence honoree this year.
