BEAVERTON, Ore. — The opening date for Shake Shack's first location in Oregon is April 16, according to media reports.
The East Coast, publicly traded (NYSE: SHAK) burger chain had plans to open its first store in downtown Portland, across from Powell's bookstore on West Burnside, a little less than a year ago. While that shop has yet to open, another location at the Cedar Hills Crossing shopping center in Beaverton will be the first to serve customers in Oregon, according to the Oregonian and Eater.
The shopping center also got in on the news, teasing a mid-April opening for the business.
While the Portland area has plenty of homegrown hamburger offerings, upscale national chains appear to be welcome, too. In-N-Out Burger in Keizer has had little letup to its long lines, and it is exploring more metro area locations.
