PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon Department of Transportation, law enforcement officials and the Better Business Bureau teamed up to bust unlicensed movers by running a sting out of a vacant home in Southeast Portland.
The periodic stings target household movers suspected of being unlicensed in the state.
Wednesday's sting brought 10 movers to the home with their trucks. Once the state confirmed the movers were unlicensed, citations were issued and civil penalties were levied.
Vehicles were inspected and at least two arrests were made.
The reason the state said it regulates household movers is to ensure they are safe, honest and insured.
