A few years ago, the brewery and Hollywood Theater teamed up for a showing of Martin Scorsese's "The Last Waltz" paired with special IPAs.

PORTLAND, Ore — Lompoc Brewing is set to become the latest longtime Portland brewery to call it quits.

In an announcement today, the brewery said it would be closing after 23 years in business. The closure includes not only the brewery but also its two pubs on North Williams Avenue, 5th Quadrant and Sidebar.

The last day of business for all three will be next Tuesday.

Jerry Fechter, owner of Lompoc, will continue to own and run Oaks Bottom Public House in Southeast Portland as its own entity. The pub will serve Lompoc beer until it's gone.

Fechter will also stage a "garage sale" Saturday, Nov. 2, at Sidebar to sell off remaining beer, vintage bottles and merchandise.

The announcement notes that Lompoc's brewmaster, Bryan Keilty, "has moved on to another brewery."

"Fechter would like to thank everyone for their support over the past 23 years," the announcement noted. "To quote another Jerry, 'What a long strange trip it’s been.' Cheers!"

Lompoc's demise is the latest in a string of brewery closures that have visited Portland in recent years. Earlier this year, BridgePort Brewing closed after 35 years, and last year Alameda shuttered after 22 years. Burnside Brewing also called it quits this year, and Widmer Bros. closed its North Russell Street pub in January.
